Hutong School is introducing a new event called liáo liao (聊聊) this Tuesday evening at 7:30pm.

Though many of the events at Hutong School focus on ancient Chinese culture, there is also much to be said about modern culture. Learning about every-day facets of life can contribute greatly to one’s understanding and appreciation of a different culture. Have you ever wondered about how Chinese people view life? What about relationships? How do ordinary people live?

Every month we will be picking a subject to speak of with a few Chinese people in order to understand modern Chinese culture.

This month we will be discussing romantic relationships, weddings, and customs. How has courtship changed over the years? Did you know that in the 50’s and 60’s it was common to bring a copy of Mao Zedong’s Little Red Book to your wedding?

You will be able to ask the questions that you’ve always wanted to ask. We will be providing drinks and snacks.

When: 7:30pm Tuesday, April 26th
