Shark Tank 2.0

Hutong School is more than just a language school – as an internship provider and door-opener to China for students from all over the world we are creating a strong community of students, young professionals and local businesses. With the Startup Pitch Night on December 6th in Beijing, we took it one step further and inspired our students and local expats to eventually start their own business using their language skills and experience they gained in their internships or work.

It’s no secret that Beijing is home to one of the most thriving startup communities in China. Hutong School is promoting the entrepreneurial spirit of the capital by bringing aspiring and veteran business owners together for a fun event focused on startup companies and the art of pitching business ideas in front of investors.

At naked Hub – one of Beijing’s coolest new coworking spaces more than 120 attendees watched five local startups pitch their businesses to four real-life investors… just like in the US-Show Shark Tank! Entrepreneurs and local expats also learned the art of pitching during a special seminar led by experts beforehand.

The Hutong School Startup Pitch Night offered great opportunities to mingle with fellow entrepreneurs, investors, and mentors from different sectors. In addition, numerous representatives of some well-respected organizations such as the American Chamber of Commerce and much more were on site.

We are already planning the second event of this kind for the beginning of 2018, so stay tuned and join us next time!
